In the car last night

The baby has taken to not liking car rides when she would rather be playing. Sometimes we can calm her down by either singing or playing music, though.

On the way to dinner, we went through a few kid songs which she did NOT care for and then started singing other songs, most definitely including aforementioned Bangles "Eternal Flame," which was the one that initially turned off the crying.

One funny thing we have noticed is that when a song IS keeping her calm but there is a pause in the song, she starts howling again. So we have taken to singing the instrumentals. It is pretty funny when popping in a CD won't work but if we sing a song with instruments included (e.g., "dun nu nu nu dun nun nun nuh!) she likes it.

Last night she finally fell asleep when El Esposo and I together sang Radiohead's "Paranoid Android." I'm sure it sounded pretty silly/awesome as we sang the wah-wahs and all and when we got to the end we had to check with each other "Did she really just fall asleep to us singing a creepy Radiohead song like that scene in Wayne's World where they sing Bohemian Rhapsody?" Yes. She did. I'm starting to dig this parenting thing.

Scarlett used to love falling asleep to "Paul Revere" by the Beastie Boys. I used to 'sing' that to her each night AND I even did the "ishishishish" and the "umdumdum-umdumdum" scratching and bass sounds! hahaha.
